Christina Courtenay - Choc Lit Author
Christina’s novel Trade Winds will be published Autumn 2010.
Christina lives in London and is married with two children. Although born in England she has a Swedish mother and was brought up in Sweden. In her teens, the family moved to Japan where she had the opportunity to travel extensively in the Far East.

Christina is a committee member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association. She won the Elizabeth Goudge Trophy for a historical short story in 2001 and the Katie Fforde Bursary for a promising new writer in 2006. Her short story was published in ‘Solander’, the magazine of the Historical Novel Society. She has two novellas published by DC Thomson’s ‘My Weekly Pocket Novel’ series and a third to be printed in 2010.

Diana Gabaldon
Diana Gabaldon is the author of the international bestsellers Cross Stitch, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn and The Fiery Cross - all featuring Claire and Jamie Fraser. Although American by birth, Diana has become fascinated by the history of Scotland, England, France and the USA in the mid-18th century when the struggles that would determine the shape of the modern world were taking place. Winstongraham

Winston Graham (1910 - 2003)
Winston Graham is the author of forty novels. His books have been widely translated and the Poldark series has been developed into two television series, shown in 22 countries. Six of Winston Graham's books have been filmed for the big screen, the most notable being Marnie, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Melinda Hammond
Melinda Hammond was born in the West Country and now lives in Yorkshire, on the edge of the Pennines with her husband and family. Melinda grew up reading swash-buckling adventures like the Three Musketeers, Captain Blood, Scaramouche etc., and then discovered Georgette Heyer, whose witty and stylish historical romances are still her comfort reads.
She loves anything romantic, whether it is a grand opera or a beautiful painting. It doesn't necessarily have to be happy, as long as it is inspiring.

Georgette Heyer (1902 - 1974)
Georgette Heyer was an amazingly prolific writer who created the Regency England genre of romance novels.

Although Jane Austen published during this period (1811 - 1820), she was writing contemporaneously while Heyer was making very well-researched historical fiction, full of all you could ever want: romance, fashion, upper classes, cross-dressing, arranged marriages, murder, intrigue, cant language, sarcasm and humour!

Julia Quinn
Julia Colter Pottinger is a best-selling American writer of historical romances, who says she chose the pen name Julia Quinn so her Regency romances would be on bookshelves next to those of the successful romance writer Amanda Quick. She has appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List four times.

Julia Colter obtained a degree in Art History form Harvard, later she decided to attend medical school. She started writing her first book one month after finishing college and she postponed medical school for two years while she wrote two more novels. After only a few short months of studying medicine in Yale University, however, she realized that she would much preferred writing to dissections. She left medical school and devoted herself full-time to her writing.
Married to Paul Pottinger, she lives in Colorado.

Abigail Reynolds
Abigail Reynolds  is a lifelong Jane Austen enthusiast and a physician.  In addition to writing, she has a part-time private practice and  enjoys spending time with her family.  Originally from upstate New York, she studied Russian, theatre, and marine biology before deciding to attend medical school.   She began writing From Lambton to Longbourn in 2001 to spend more time with her favourite characters from Pride & Prejudice.  Encouragement from fellow Austen fans convinced her to continue asking ‘What if…?’, which led to four other Pemberley Variations and her modern novel, Pemberley by the Sea.  She is currently at work on another Pemberley Variation and a sequel to Pemberley by the Sea.  She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, two teenaged children, and a menagerie of pets.

NShute

Nevil Shute (1899 - 1960)
Nevil Shute was both a popular novelist and a successful aeronautical engineer. He used Nevil Shute as his pen name, and his full name in his engineering career, in order to protect his engineering career from any potential negative publicity in connection with his novels .

He wrote 24 novels and an autobiography between 1924 and 1960. All are excellent but some are obviously better than others. In some cases books were published under different names in the UK and the US.

Wendy Soliman
Wendy Soliman was brought up on the Isle of Wight.  During her adolescence, apart from riding horses, her abiding passion was writing stories.  Four years ago she unearthed a book she’d written many years ago, which rekindled her interest in writing.

Since then she has had three Regency romances accepted for publication by Robert Hale, and is working on a fourth.  She attributes much of her early success to the sound professional advice she has received from Hilary Johnson and her team.

Wendy now lives in Andorra with her husband, Andre.

Laren willig

Lauren Wilig
A native of New York City, she attended Yale, where she majored in Renaissance Studies and Political Science, then studied graduate level early modern European history at Harvard before entering and graduating from Harvard Law School. She now works for Cravath, Swaine & Moore, a law firm in New York, while authoring her "Pink Carnation" series of books.

Her books include The Deception of the Emerald Ring, The Masque of the Black Tulip, and The Secret History of the Pink Carnation. The frame story of each work follows Eloise Kelly, an American grad student, as she attempts to write her dissertation and unmask the Pink Carnation (a Napoleonic-era spy inspired by The Scarlet Pimpernel) – and find love with an attractive Englishman, Colin.[1] The books also feature several different romantic adventures detailing the exploits of the Purple Gentian, the Pink Carnation, the Black Tulip, and a host of other characters from early 19th century England and France.
